In addition to Marvel Studios with its MCU, Sony Pictures studio also has its own Marvel universe which they named Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. After introducing Venom and Morbius, in the future they will also bring a character who is closely related to Spider-Man, namely Madame Web. The film will reportedly feature the first spider man at SSU. Because Madame Web herself has the power that allows her to access the Spider-Verse.
So far, Sony has yet to release an official synopsis for the Madame Web film. However, currently the crew and actors have started filming in several locations, including Mexico and America. The confirmed actors include Dakota Johnson as Madame Web. With Sydney Sweeney, Adam Scott, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps and Zosia Mamet.
Ben Parker’s Character Returns to Madame Web
Having previously made fans curious, recently, The Cosmic Circus reported that actor Adam Scott will play Peter Parker’s uncle who is none other than Ben Parker. For loyal Spider-Man fans, Ben and his wife May Parker are known to be very loving adoptive parents. In which Ben himself was the first to give Spider-man a superhero moral code, saying “with great power comes great responsibility.”
Still in the same report, The Cosmic Circus has also revealed a number of other roles. Including Emma Roberts as Aunt May, Johnson as Cassandra Web/Madame Web, Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter, Celeste O’Connor as Mattie Franklin/Spider-Woman, and Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon/Spider-Girl.
Seeing the appearance of Scott and Roberts who look younger than Ben and May in general, there is a possibility that Madame Web’s story will take place before Peter becomes Spider-Man. Considering that Sony itself has yet to issue an official statement regarding this latest casting news, let’s just follow the developments, geeks. Madame Web is slated to hit theaters on October 6, 2023.
