She Hulk: Attorney at Law is an upcoming MCU series that Marvel will soon premiere in mid-August. In addition to introducing Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, this series created by Jessica Gao will also feature a number of other interesting characters. These include Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Rfallo), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), and supervillains Abomination (Tim Roth), and Titania (Jameela Jamil).
Based on what is seen in its various promotions, in addition to the main characters, the She-Hulk series will feature many more characters from Marvel Comics. Call it the Wrecking Crew supervillain team, then there is also Frog Man, and a number of other metahumans whose roles are still mysterious. The reason why there are so many Marvel characters in the She-Hulk series is that Jen aka She-Hulk herself is a metahuman lawyer. So it’s not strange if there are so many characters that intersect with him. Unfortunately, the same case does not apply to his best friend in Marvel Comics, namely Spider-Man.
Why Spider-Man Can’t Appear in She-Hulk
In an interview with The Direct, MCU She-Hulk creator Jessica Gao has just revealed the reason why not all Marvel characters can appear in the series, especially Spider-Man. In fact, according to him, Spider-Man himself was one of the characters they discussed most often when writing the She-Hulk script. “Many [She-Hulk] writers are disappointed that we can’t bring Spider-Man and all the characters associated with him. That was possible because there were so many Spider-Man fans on the writing team,” said Gao.
Still in the same interview, Gao also explained that copyright limitations were one of the reasons why he couldn’t realize the appearance of Spider-Man. “There are a lot of characters from the comics that we can’t bring out because of copyright issues or because Marvel already has other plans for these characters. We’re trying to dig in and find out, but of course they won’t tell us why,” said Gao.
As we know, Spider-Man is one of the MCU characters whose copyright is held by Sony Pitures. Likewise with all the characters associated with him, such as MJ, Ned, the Spider-Man villains, and so on. Even though Spider-Man can’t appear, that doesn’t mean the She-Hulk series isn’t worth watching. Because in fact there are many interesting characters that will appear in the series. We’ll see what happens when She-Hulk airs on August 18 tomorrow.
