Constantine is one of the horror superheroes whose story DC was adapted into a film in 2005. No half-hearted, at that time the film, directed by Francis Lawrence, even hooked a number of top Hollywood actors. Including Keanu Reeves who plays John Constantine who has a high level of exorcism ability. Although at that time superhero films were not as famous as they are now, Constantine’s films were quite successful.
In response, the film has received more criticism from fans. However, financially, his income actually reached 230 million dollars from around the world. Since then, not a few fans are also looking forward to the sequel. One of the reasons was because they felt that Reeves deserved a second chance to reprise his role as Contantine. Interestingly, recently there was good news that answered the expectations of these fans.
Warner Bros. Confirms Constantine 2 Film Development
Based on Deadline’s latest report (via Screen Rant), it was revealed that Warner Bros. has confirmed the development of the film Contantine 2. In which Reeves will reprise his role as John Contantine. As for the director himself, WB has again hooked up with Francis Lawrence, who will later direct the film based on a script by Akiva Goldsman. Goldsman himself will also act as producer alongside J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella.
It is still a mystery what the plot of Constantine 2 will be like. Just a reminder, in the post-credits scene of the first film, we can see Contantine who goes to visit the grave of her driver and student, Chas Kramer. In the scene, the character from Shia LaBeouf is seen resurrecting in his angelic form. If the sequel will use the same material from the first film, it is not impossible that we will also see the return of the character Chas.
The announcement of this sequel film has indirectly sparked fans’ curiosity whether the character of Constantine will be part of the DCEU. It seems that it would be very interesting if it was true that Contantine would later become part of the DCEU superhero lineup. Because only then can he become the founder of the Justice League Dark super team along with other horror superheroes.
