Of course you still remember the actor Don Cheadle who has played a role in many MCU films. He started his career in the MCU when he replaced actor Terrence Howard to play Colonel James Rhodes. In the film Iron Man 2 Cheadle first appeared, and since then he has returned to reprise his role in several other films. Soon, Cheadle will also appear in the Secret Invasion and Armor Wars series.
With Don Cheadle’s long track record in the MCU, it’s only natural that many fans are asking, will Cheadle follow Robert Downey and Chris Evans to retire? Or at the very least, will he take a short vacation to play James Rhodes aka War Machine? Well, in yesterday’s D23 event, Cheadle revealed what his fate was in the MCU.
Cheadle’s MCU contract has ended
Don Cheadle has confirmed that his contract with Marvel Studios has ended. But Cheadle insists that he is very wide open with other MCU projects in the future. “I’m done with a contract for a few years in the MCU, if something is fun and I’m needed again, then yes, come on.” Cheadle also added his pleasure for being involved in the Secret Invasion series.
In the MCU itself, there are several actors who have extended their contracts in the MCU. Examples are Sebastian Stan and Samuel L. Jackson. They have extended their contract to be involved in eight or nine films/series with Marvel Studios. It could be that Marvel Studios is still interested in working with Cheadle again and extending his contract. Countedly, Cheadle has appeared in 7 MCU films, and so far his performance has been quite successful.
But if he doesn’t renew his contract, maybe Armor Wars will be his final installment in the MCU. The series can tell about what happened to the War Machine at the end of its work. Of course, Cheadle’s fate in the MCU can still change, depending on the decisions of Marvel Studios and Don Cheadle himself.
