The character of Sam Wilson will return as a new Captain America in the sequel story in the film. This news appeared at the D23 Expo 2022 event which took place today. Previously, the figure of Sam re-appeared in the story in the series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The first season shows how Sam struggles to become the new Captain America to replace Steve Rogers. He had to struggle with skepticism from various quarters.
Even so, Sam doesn’t seem to give up and tries to be himself. During the D23 Expo, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige gave information that Anthony Mackie would return to play Sam Wilson for Captain America: New World Order. In addition, Kevin Feige also provides a lot of other information related to this latest film project.
New Logo and New Hero Character
Besides Anthony Mackie, Kevin Feige also introduced several names who will join the film. An example is Tim Blake Nelson who will reprise his role as The Leader. He has played this character since the film Incredible Hulk in 2008. Next is Carl Lumbly who will return to play the character of Isaiah Bradley after previously appearing in the series Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Danny Ramirez will play Joaquin Torres and he will be appointed as the new Falcon.
Kevin also confirmed that there will be a new character in the film. The figure is Shira Haas, who will play the hero character named Sabra. In the comic itself, Sabra is a female hero from Israel. Her real name is Ruth Bat-Seraph. In the panel, fans are shown a new logo for the Captain America character who will appear in the film later. Although most of the elements are still the same, the new logo looks more modern and gives a different image to Sam.
Based on preliminary information from the cast on stage, the current MCU is a “world where the Avengers no longer exist, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any heroes who will appear to defend them.” The film itself will be directed by Julius Onah and will be part of the fifth phase of the MCU. The film itself is scheduled to be released on May 3, 2024.
