Rurouni Kenshin, or known as Samurai X, is a very popular Japanese anime at that time. The story itself focuses on the adventures of Kenshin Himura, a slayer samurai who tries to run from his old life. In the process he meets a number of friends as well as old enemies who leave him in many dilemmas. Interestingly, 26 years since its premiere, it is now revealed that the Rurouni Kenshin anime will be getting a reboot series.
Actually, long before the anime reboot was revealed, Rurouni Kenshin had gotten five live action film adaptations. With Takeru Satoh who plays Kenshin Himura in the film Rurouni Kenshin, Kyoto Inferno, The Legend Ends, The Final, and The Beginning. His films are quite successful in the world, which shows that Rurouni Kenshin’s fan base is still very large. Because that’s pretty reasonable why Aniplex would re-release its anime reboot. Here is the latest poster from the series, which shows Kenshin and Kaoru Kamiya.
Kenshin and Kaoru’s Nostalgic Appearance
This Rurouni Kenshin reboot anime series has just arrived from Aniplex of America’s Twitter account. In their tweet they also include that the series will air in 2023. As for the voice actors, Aniplex itself has hooked up actors who are already familiar in the anime world. Namely Soma Saito (Kill la Kill, Akame Ga Kill) and Rie Takahashi (Re: Zero) as Kenshin and Kaoru respectively. Along with this inaugural tweet, Aniplex has also released a trailer for the reboot of Rurouni Kenshin at the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 event.
In the 1:34 minute trailer, Kenshin can be seen practicing his sword using his reverse-bladed katana. In the process he was reminiscing about past events, where he was still a murderer. The end of the trailer itself closes with his first meeting with Kaoru, his love interest in the Rurouni Kensin series. Seeing the togetherness of Kenshin and Kaoru in the poster and trailer, it looks like this reboot series will stick to the original material. Where Kaoru will be the first person to support Kenshin’s conversion.
